What is the starting off salary for a rehab nurse and how high can it go? What is considered the highest paying rehab job? Is there room for promotion? Thanks!!

pay rate varies from state to state-- fig-- the ones with the highest liiving expences are typically higher than areas with lower living expenses...
and, it also varies hosp. to hosp, and institution to institution....
its amazingly variable that way...

promotion?
well.. there are management positions like any other positions...
you can delve into case management, which is very important in the rehab setting...

just got license in march, just started Rehab nursing.. $12.88/hr plus shift differential. I hear my more experienced comrades at $17 with the same diff. regarding promotion, i hear that is very possible, to what extent when it comes to position and pay, i have no freaking clue.

Money in NZ probably irrelevant to US but I got to top of our pay scale (43.000, plus penal rates so an extra $10,000 ontop). In terms of promotion options here include management, rehab nurse specialist, rehab nurse practitioner, rehab nurse educator etc. It has now led me into working as nurse lecturer for a university and developing a chronic conditions and rehab course! Rehab provides endless possibilities. Its a wonderful wonderful hugely rewarding area to work in!!! I still keep a hand in as a hands on nurse as well.

I'm a new grad and I'll be starting my first job at a rehab hospital for $21 an hour. That's pretty typical for my area.

well 4.5 yrs later........just offered a new grad position...starting at $28.75 per hour with diff. $30 on the w/e with diff.

In my area, rehab nursing pays decently because it is regarded as backbreaking work. In addition, the employee turnover rates are rather high on the rehab units in my area, so the hospitals and skilled nursing facilities must keep the nursing pay rates competitive in order to keep these specific work areas adequately staffed.

I'm an LVN who works on a rehab unit, and I earn more than many RNs. Then again, the rehab units at the SNF where I am employed cannot seem to retain nurses for very long.

New grad just got hired at 19 an hour here in South florida, a bit above the norm of 17 and thats not including my differential.

In our hospital it doesnt matter which field you are in, we all start out the same for RN pay with slight difference between Associates vs Bachelors. Our raises are set since we are unionized. In rehab, the advances are pretty much the same as the other fields too. Extra pay for shift diff/charge pay and you can proceed to get rehab certification,and we have some clinical nurse specialists that also work in our area.
