Question Pediatric rehab??

I am currently enrolled in an associate degree nursing program, and I will graduate this spring. I am looking to continue my education, but Im not too sure what in. I have thought about healthcare management, but recently I have been thinking about some of the reasons I went into nursing. I want to help others and work with children; I want to make a difference. Sometimes I get a little nervous about alot of blood and invasive type things, as well (I know, so why did you want to be a nurse for if thats how you feel??).
Basically, I want to know....Is there such thing as a pediatric rehab nurse? One who works with children after illness or accidents, etc. Do they work with developmental abilities? Is this more of a job a physical therapist does? And where do I go from here?

Any help/advice is appreciated!

Re: Pediatric rehab??

Hi. I am a Nurse Manager of a Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit. Yes, there is such a thing as a Pediatric Rehabilitation Nurse. We treat children from infancy to 18 who have experienced brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, etc. We do treat children who have physical disabilities from birth as well. I would recommend searching the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses website for more information about Pediatric Rehabilitation Nursing. You may also e-mail me with further questions.
