How long was your orientation period in the Psychiatric unit?

12 hours of class orientation, followed by two day and two night shifts.

As I recall, I was assigned to a nurse, who oriented me to the unit and introdiced me to increased responsibility & duties as time went on.

It really depends on the role of the RN on your unit. We would have a charge nurse, a medication nurse, along with nurses being assigned as primaries & secondaries to patients, and leading/co-leading groups.
