The Mini mental State exam is specifically designed to assess cognitive processes. It has distinct assessment areas such as orientation, attention and calculation, recognition, Recall, use and repitition of language. It is used in psychiatry by medical staff to aid the diagnostic process in dementia and support the prescribing of anticholinesterase inhibitors (in UK) the tool was devised by (Folstein, 1978). I am not familiar with the general screening exam but would imagine it is exactly that, a more general tool, or more specifically related to physical health
