Re: Any Psych. APRN's out there?

I also would love to speak to a psych NP. I am a new RN (lpn for 2+years) and I am interested in possibly becoming an NP in psych but honestly I know very little about exactly what an NP can do.

I know an NP can prescribe meds but can an NP actually go into private practice? Do therapy and perscribe meds? And if so what is the difference between that and a psychiatrist?

thanks for any info

frank

Hello, Psychaprn and fgold,

I moved this thread to the Psych forum for what I hope will be a better response. Maybe here, psych NPs will respond, if there are any out there.
