I am also a nursing student interested in this, and I was wondering the same thing... so you'll be helping a few people.
Thanks!

other than an icu and begging for the vent pt's, you could look for a vent unit, where u will get more than your fill -

Does a nurse need to be a pulmonary nurse with more and more respiratory therapists in the work force?

doesn't matter if there are 1000 RTs.. your responsibilities as a nurse will not be affected. and to be a "pulmonary nurse" is more of a label than anything else... get into a busy icu, or if you like, a vent unit, and you will have your fill just the same.
