advise for being good community nurse

Hey everyone out there. Im a new nurse, not a new grad, but only about 1yr/3mo exp. My only job exp was at a large, well known hosp (med/surg floor). I recently moved to NYC and I just got a job in community nursing at a public health center, as a LPN, giving treatment to infants, peds, adult regardless of ability to pay, 9-5 type clinic. Im really excited to start because I feel community nursing is important and sounds very interesting and fun. Anyway, wanted to get advise for preparing myself for this new focus and what kinds of things I could start going over before i start in a week or so. Any advise would be great. btw: I already am working to become bi-lingual!

Re: advise for being good community nurse

I would advise you to relax and take it easy...Spoil yourself a little if you can!
Besides that as a PHN it is most important for me to be familiar with the resources their are in the community so I can make effective referrals and recommendations to my clients.
