I live in Mo. We do not have to have ACLS prior to PALS. If fact I've never taken it. All we have to have is BLS certification. I don't know if this is true everywhere, if it is a state thing, or a hopsitals choice. Hope this helps.

Is ACLS cerification required prior to being PALS certified? Also, is an ECG monitoring class recommended prior to PALS? Thank you to anyone who can help.
I don't talk ACLS is required nor ECG monitoring class before taking PALS course. I have been taking PALS for about 5yrs in NY&FL, and all i did was to take the PALS course.
I am a PALS instructor, and the AHA does not require for you to have anything except your BLS card prior to the course. ACLS is separate. For the PALS course, I don't think that you will need a ECG interp class. Good Luck with the course. RR
I am a PALS instructor. All that is required for the heart association is BLS certification. In pediatrics it is knowing slow, fast and absent rythms following the algorythms. Good Luck with your class.
