I have an interview at a hospital tomorrow..HR interview, interview with the managers..and I will be "shadowing" in the OR.
What does this mean? I will be following a nurse around during a case? Will I be interviewed during this process? I obviously cant do any actual work, since I dont work there yet, and am not even licensed in that state. I do have 1 year OR experience.....just not familiar with this shadowing thing..

Shadowing is basically following an OR nurse around while he/she is doing her job.

This would be your chance to see how their OR works, from Pre-op to Recovery room, see the paperwork, where the equipments are, over all view of their system.

I think it's your chance to ask all the questions you want to ask, and you get a better understanding of your role when you get that job.

Yup-- it's your chance to see if the job looks right for you. The interview part is their time to see if you're right for the job.
If you've never been in an OR, be prepared to be a bit overwhelmed, depending on what cases you see. There is a LOT of stuff to absorb. However, if the hospital's training program is good, you'll eventually get it all (until the next unfamiliar case comes along...)

Remember, as a non-essential observer you need a HIPAA authorization. As a student AMA Ethics require that someone discusses your involvement with the patient and gains their consent (note it is not sufficient to simply use a written consent form without explicit "discussion").

Since you have 1 year OR experience already, I'm sure this will be just to familiarize yourself with how this particular hospital does things, where items are, etc.

Thanks everyone, I think the interview went ok....they asked me a bunch of OR related questions, and I got the answers correct....
However, the interview process was a little bit unorganized....people really didnt really know what do do with me, or who I should be talking to, exactly..so I am not sure I am so optimistic about this place.which dissapoints me, because its a major level 1 teaching hospital, and I wanted to work there,,,,,
The "interviewers"-- asst mgr, 2 coordinators, were a little, umm, pessimistic about the environment there. One even said..." Are you sure you want to work here?"
Oh well......who knowa, if I get an offer, I probably will take it....because its not like I havent been a less than perfect work situation before, at least this place pays good.....and has a pension, etc....lol
