Anyone know if having your Master's (I'm thinking FNP) along with the RN First Assist cert will enhance your chances of getting hired with select surgeons? I would think surgeons would have the NP do the pt education, pre-op evals and post-op evals too.
Most of the websites regarding RNFA state you must have CNOR and 2 years of OR exp, but if you have your NP the CNOR and 2 years are waived.
Anyone know for sure?
Thanks.

As far as I know they are not waived, if you are going for the RNFA certification. You still need the exam for the certification. None of the newer NPs have the RNFA certification, they just use the NP Certification, and do pretty much the same things. There is no reason for the duplication.....
You may see soemone that already has the CRNFA, then they go for the NP further down the line, but usually not the other way.
