I hear most OR Nurses make 100, 000 a year with on call pay. Does anyone know about this nice number?????

Do a search on this and you will find all the info you need. Last year I made about $120,000, but that was with alot of OT, call time, and working PT at other places. I work in the OR where OT can be available. Good luck!

You can do it, but you have to take an awful lot of call/work an awful lot of
OT. You need better stamina than I can still muster up to work that many hours in a year!

Was this take home pay??? I feel uncle sam takes a pretty nice chunk out of my checks. I feel like i hardly take anything home but then again i'm brand new.

No, gross pay. I usually take home about 3200 per pay period(6400 a month). But as someone said, lots of extra hours and OT.

how much is a "lot" of OT?

Probably about 6 hours of DT and 6 hours of OT. It changes all the time. I take alot of call, 60-70 hours a week, but don't work all that time. That is stand-by and not actual work time.

Are you a Scrub nurse or a Circulating nurse? How much experience did you need to have before transferring to the OR?

Doesn't matter, I do both. You HAVE to remember that I have 30 years experience and not everyone can go anywhere and adjust to that particular department without problems. You have to be able to do anything so only years of experience will allow you that luxury. The OR is a very structured place that relies on people being able to do jobs without help.I have been working at the same place for 30 years and the other place PT for 7 years. Don't think you will go into this situation and make that kind of money right off the bat, it takes time.
