Exclamation Need suggestions on good schools to recieve OR training

Hi everyone, I am a new graduate and am very interested in becoming an OR nurse. I need help trying to figure out where I should take the course, I'd like to take the course in any of the following countries ; Australia, New Zealand, Scotland,or Ireland. Of course living in Canada it's hard to know the reputations of schools in other countries so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

O.R Schools

Alright here we go.... You are living in Canada, where? It's a large country!!! This is what I did, I too live in Canada (Toronto, Ontario) area. When I graduated Nursing school, I applied for and accepted a job in the States. I had researched hospitals that offered full-time employment concurrent with a six month O.R. course offered through the hospital. Thus, I worked FT, getting paid to do the O.R. course and at the end had to stay at the hospital for one year or pay the tuition back. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info ............... David

OR training in Maine

Although it is not in any of the countries you have mentioned you want to go to, Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine has a very fine reputation for their OR program. They have two a year and accept anywhere from 2-4 students. I hope to be starting there in the Spring. I dont know if this was of any help to you. But Portland is a wonder ful city and Maine Medical Center is a well known teaching hospital. Good luck!!!

Why not come to Britain?. Register with the N.M.C., apply for a job, you'll have no problem at all wherever you apply, plus a lot of hospitals give out accomodation, then do the course with the hospital you work for or go to another hospital and do the course there. Depending on where you apply you are under no obligation to stay in that particular hospital when you finish your course. Canadian nurses are GREAT, we'd love to have you.
