Thumbs up Any RECOMMENDED OR book?

Being an OR nurse is very very challenging! Well, I've only been here for only almost 2 months now, & I find it really challenging! I need your help of any good OR book for us nurses to read. I want to enhance my compency. It's hard to be a newbie in any situation. Hope you could recommend me any book. Thanx!!!!

Get the newest version, 12th edition, of "Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery". It is published by Mosby and is considered one of the best perioperative books out there. Mike

Berry and Kohn's "OPERATING ROOM TECHNIQUE" is another good one. The author is Nancymarie Fortunato Phillips and it is also published by Mosby.

It is not as detailed as Alexander's, but many people use it as a companion book.

If you must choose between the two, get the Alexander's.

I agree, Alexanders is great, I first used it as a student and when I started in OR I bought a copy myself (Not cheap but well worth it!)

Comprehensive Perioperative Nursing by
Gruendemann & Fernsebner.
Mine is a 1995 edition but I am sure there must be a newer one. It is a wonderful resource for perioperative nurses.
Good luck,
Paula
