Assesment of the area distal and proximal to the casted area.
Palpation of the cast itself for "hot spots"
Assessment of color and sensation of the casted extremity

Assure cast edges are smooth and not pressing into the skin.
Look out for comaprtment sx....very important. Read up on compartment syndrome.
