Hi Everyone,

I was born with both hips dislocated, I was in a body cast from 6 weeks old to 13 months old, with traction at certain times.

I got regular check ups, till I was 18.
I had pain and limping once when I was 6 years old, but it went away fast and that was the end of that.

For the last year or so, when I walk I feel a bone "shifting" in each hip with every step I take. (Recently, It sometimes makes a noise that people can hear in the room!) This never hurt me, and I got used to it so I never had it checked.

Now I am 25 years old and a month or so ago, I was in an "unusual" position, and my right hip made a huge "snap", it suddenly started hurting out of no where a few weeks later. Since then I have pain that comes and goes, pain lasts a day or 2 and goes away, without any warning or phsical activity. I only get pain on the right side (that "snapped") The pain hurts when I walk and is worse with weight bearing.

I went to the cliinic today, so I could get the GP to refer me to an orthopedic doector, but I was sent away since there were no doctors in the building, even though the clinic was "open". I just got frustrated with the health system, Sundays are not good to go to the clinic and the hospitals have unbelieveable waiting times........Anyway.......
I was just wondering if anyone has any advice, I do plan to go back to the clinic tomorrow, and my orthopedic doctor as a baby/child is not around any more.

Does Coxa Plana sound familiar? It's a condition where the hip suffers a deformity.

I hope you will continue with some followup. I understand how the clinic might not have an orthopedic doctor on Sunday. A primary doctor should be able to at least order some x-rays to see what the hip looks like.

Yesterday, I finally had my apt. /c an ortho dr. I wasn't too crazy about him, he seemed disinterested and I think he thought I was faking or something!

Of course, since I was at the doctors office, I had no pain and it wasn't cracking like normal, except when I walk........cause it ALWAYS cracks on both sides when I take a step.
He watched me walk, moved my legs around, than didn't seem convinced there was even a problem! So I said to him to follow behind me with his hands on my hips. Than he finally seemed a little more understanding.

He doesn't think there is a corelation with my dislocation as a baby.
He ordered me Celebrex and some Xrays, (which I had done the same day elsewhere after waiting a long time!!!)

I also went to the Childrens hospital where I was followed up and asked them to send copies of my file to the doctor.

On Dec. 19, I have another apt. with the same doctor, at that time he will have seen my old records and will see the Xrays. I guess we will see from there.
