textbook recommendation for student?

Hi all,
I have been reading for awhile but decided to join and ask a question. I'm a student and will not be able to take any courses specifically related to oncology nursing, but that is my area of interest. Can anyone recommend a good textbook (it would be a bonus if it is something i could find online used) that is used for such courses?

I know it's not the same as a class, but I would like to educate myself as much as possible about the subject. Is there anyone else who decided to work in oncology without being able to take courses in school? I'm very self-directed with studying so I'm not worried about being able to learn any material, but I am worried that I will not be considered for positions without formal credits.
Any advice?
Thank you!

Re: textbook recommendation for student?

I'm an Oncology Nurse Extern and I bought "Psychosocial Nursing Care Along the Cancer Continuum."

I highly recommend it.

Also, check out www.ons.org (if you already haven't). It's the Oncology Nursing Society's website, a lot of valuable resources for students.

Good Luck

Best,
Diane
