Good Books on GIVING chemo ?

I have purchased the Core Cirruculum for Onc Nursing....and....the Bio/Chemo Guidelines for Administration books....... Each is great and loaded with fantastic info. But....

I am wondering if there is a book that gives "step by step" details and "tips" on exactly how chemo's, pre-meds, pre-hydration and post-hydration & tratments are done for the different protocols (CHOP, BEP, ICE...ect). And, what the common steps are should a reaction occur.

Appreciate any advice.

Re: Good Books on GIVING chemo ?

You may want to try this book
2007 Oncology Nursing Drug Handbook (Paperback)
by Gail M. Wilkes (Author), Barton-burke (Author)

Problem with this book is that it doesnt have the quick cross reference at the back of the book for standard of care treatment for each type of cancer

I still use the 2006 version and this has been sort of my bible in my practice

Also ONS will provide you of all the resources that you may need.
www.ons.org

hope this helps you

Re: Good Books on GIVING chemo ?

You place of employment should have step by step policies as well as regular protocols available. Talk to your nurse educater (if you have one) or administrator.
