I'm just curious. Aside from picking up overtime, how do you make extra money on the side? (i.e. PRN at other hospitals, private duty, childbirth classes, lactation consultations, etc)

Aside from working overtime (which is a BIG one) and the things you listed, some of the nurses on our floor…
- get part-time jobs at other hospitals
- become AWHONN certified and teach fetal heart monitoring courses
- provide “expert” testimony or act as a consultant on OB legal matters
- provide labor and/or postpartum doula services
- teach a class (i.e., medical terminology or even a basic nursing course) at a local community college
- review and/or edit nursing text books
- teach a perinatal yoga class

Work as an assitant for a licensed midwife.

Aside from what was already mentioned...I know a couple of RNs who are IV infusion nurses and a couple who work phone triage for another company.
