Re: what do i need to DO!!!!!!

Hi, well first off you will have to go to nursing school and become a nurse. In nursing school you will have rotations in many different areas of nursing such as medical/surgical (which is the bulk of nursing school), geriatrics, pediatrics, psych, ob/gyn, and so on.

There is no school that specifically specializes in one area of nursing, such as labor and delivery. You have to go to nursing school and become an RN (or LPN) before you can specialize. Browse around the nursing student/pre nursing student areas of this site, you'll find a lot of info.

Hope this helps.

I echo what KayceeLee said.
As for high school courses, if you have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement classes in Chemistry, Statistics, Anatomy and Physiology or Psychology - do it! My AP credits meant I could skip a few classes in college. (The AP Biology, at least in some schools, only helps you in college if you're a non-science major, but I'd recommend taking it anyway because you do need a good grasp of the life sciences!)

Re: what do i need to DO!!!!!!

When I was in high school I took as many advanced science, math, and chemistry classes as I could. When I applied for nursing school I got credit for those classes and didn't have to take them in college. Not only does this save time and money but it also increases the opportunity to be accepted into the program when you apply. You might want to talk to a counselor at the colleges you are looking to apply at and get the course objectives so that you can work on classes that you do not have to be enrolled into the nursing program while you are trying to get accepted. This minimizes your workload once in the program and gives you more time to focus on nursing. I wish you the best of luck.

Re: what do i need to DO!!!!!!

take as high as possible chem and science courses in HS to prepare you for college bio and chem and enjoy HIGH SCHOOL!!!! The real world is tough, kid. Have fun while you can and trust me, your mind WILL change many times before you get through it all, so dont sweat it, just do as good as you can on what you are doing, its all baby steps.
