The Sex Police

We have been having a spell of patients having sex on our High Risk OB unit. We had a 15 yr old do it in the shower with her boyfriend. It didn't help that she was srom with twins and ptl. Then we had the wife giving her husband a blow job in the room. B ut today we had the combination of both. First this new 15yo srom and ptl patient was giving her boyfriend a blow job when a nurse walked in. Then later that afternoon a nurse walked in the room when they were having sex. They were both given a lecture about having sex with ruptured membranes. I wanted to know why we couldn't call her mother . Her mother had to sign to give permission for tx.This patient is a minor.Would this be violating the patients rights if we call her mom? What do you all think? How have you all handled it in the past?

Thankfully I've not had to deal with this too often as of late since are rooms are mostly double occupied; however, our new building which we are moving to shortly has single occupancyy rooms only and OMG look out for pts rights and nurses rights not to be there when the deed is done. And I agree, people nowadays are less likely to be embarassed of being caught in the act! just look below...

PS. Recently my wife and I decided on taking a hike near the Kern River ajacent to Hart Park. Well what do you know but 5 feet from the trail and 50 feet from the trail head a couple is doing it in broad daylight. I was so tempted to kick him in the rump , but just kept on walking and mentioned how Spring must be arriving soon to my SO. LOL LOL

Re: The Sex Police

In IL, a minor who is pregnant is an adult until she delivers. Prior to delivery, she signs the consents for herself and the baby. Afterwards, she signs consents for the baby (ies) and mom signs for her.

BTW in IL, a 12 y/o can get care for STDs, pregnancy-related care, mental health and substance abuse issues without parental consent.

Re: The Sex Police

I would not call the mom, as in most states the fact that the 15 year old is prego and going to have babies makes her amancipated, so that could end up being a privacy violation.

Re: The Sex Police

But i would chart my booty off about what you found her doing, seeing as how having sex is contraindicated for her.

I agree. This way, if there are any complications (from the birth that is), there's a 'paper' trail documenting possible causes.

OT: I've never been in labor or anything like that, but i'm just imagining that i woldn't be in the mood for anything sexual at that time, especially if i'm in a hospital. Especially being in a hospital, since i WORK in a hospital, it would just remind me of work, and that does nothing to get me in the mood. If anything it kills the mood.

i believe the OP had stated the mom (of the patient) had to sign for rx.....
and why isnt the BF (if over 18) not being arrested for sexual assault?
