Unhappy Really need an answer about creatinine clearance?

Hi, my name is Audra I'm a cardiac RN in RI. I'm having my second child and my MD called today to say that my 24 hour urine showed a very borderline creatinine clearance. Now, I know what that means for my cardiac patients, but what does it mean for me. PMH: 20yo female gravida 2 para 1, my 1st pregnancy I had a section and delivered 5 weeks early due to severe preeclampsia. They tried vaginal birth but even with pitocin I only got to 7 cm. My son was born perfectly healthy at 6 lbs. I had no elevated BP's during that pregnancy until 24 hours prior to delivery when my BP shot up to 196/118. I am overweight by about 40 lbs. and have been watching what I eat very carefully. When I did my 24 hr. urine I had approx. 1300cc of fluid in and only 600 cc out. Talk about a discrepancy. Anyway, If any of you could help out with some info, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm really worried about the baby and my renal function.

Your creatinine clearance is only part of the picture. It DOES sound as if kidney function is somewhat compromised, which is very classic in preeclampsia. And, Based on what you say here, it *sounds* as if you are into preeclampsia already. I do not know your liver function, which is vital information, also. Did he do a PIH profile for you? That is very important.

Regardless, I would discuss these concerns with my doctor ASAP, not ask here at a board. It sounds as if you really do need to keep close watch on your medical status, based on the info you provide here PLUS your history. Please discuss these concerns with your doctor TODAY. You have reason for concern, in my opinion.

I wish you the best! Take care of yourself and your baby.
