Hi I am new to L&D and was wondering about charting accelerations and variability any suggestions? Or any websites to go to regarding fetal monitoring?

You should deinitely look for Fetal Monitoring and then Advanced Fetal monitoring seminars. I'm at home, so don't have the info in front of me, but most units have the brochures posted for these somewhere - ask your director. (I'll look next time at work and post it if no one else has come along and done so)
Also check out Perinataltrace.com for practice interpreting strips. It's a site where strips are posted, posters give their interpretation, then later the actual findings from the strip are posted.

AWHONN has an excellent fetal heart monitoring text, written by Dr. Michelle Murray. You should really attend her classes, as well as AWHONN FHM and And Advanced FHM classes by AWHONN....many places require this, anyhow.

Here is the book I am talking about. Looks like they will have a new edition Oct 2006!!!

I work with Gayle Huelsmann, She is awesome!!! She does so much education on our unit, she precepts new grads, teaches classes, and still has time to be one of our flight nurses adn write a book! I can't imagine our unit without her. Michelle Murray used to work on the same unit.

There is a site called www.perinataltrace.com that is very intereting. It has been down for awhile but I think is supposed to be back up and running this month. They put a strip and info up for interpretation then later reveal the outcome. There is a message board for discussion of the strips.

I have the AWHONN book and it's good, but there aren't a lot of examples or any practice strips, especially for the questionable ones. Hopefully that tracing site will be up soon.

I honestly feel the best thing anyone can do is attend FHM seminars/conferences by Dr. Michelle Murray, or Lisa Miller, CNM, JD. Here is a link to help you find a course/date that may work for you:

These two speakers are EXCELLENT and will really stimulate some serious thought and discussion as to your practices and understanding of the ever-changing work of fetal heart monitoring and associated interventions. I can't say enough good about these conferences. I love them.
