please recommend your NCC study guide!

Hi I am new to the site! I am looking for some recommendations for study guides for the inpatient OB NCC exam. I would really prefer a short easy to read review guide and a CD with many test questions to do for practice. thanks for your advice!

Re: please recommend your NCC study guide!

I am taking this test in AUG and have been encouraged to buy the Core Curriculum for Maternal-Newborn Nursing...Third Edition (AWHONN).
It is $69.95. Try amazon.com. Let me know if u hear of anything else.

Re: please recommend your NCC study guide!

I took a review course given by Professional Education Center. I thought it was a great course. I am not one to just sit and study a book ( the book mentioned in the previous post was one I do have). I like the presentation thing better. It is a bit more expensive than buying a book, but was well worth it to me. You can find one close to you if you go to their site http://www.proeducenter.com

Good luck on the test. I took it back in 1999 and thought it was like taking the boards all over again.

Re: please recommend your NCC study guide!

thanks for your suggestions!!!

babyktchr: I would have loved to take a review course through the professional education center and looked in to it but of course they are not offereing it again until Sept and my test is scheduled for August!!! I would feel so much better listening to someone than reading a book on my own!

jandgmomRN: It was recommended to me to get the AWHONN book as well! I looked through it at work but was really hoping to find something with a CD of questions or more review questions and less content (that book is pretty big!). Since I'm not finding much else out there I might just give up and go with the AWHONN book.

I did find this website that offers a "workbook" as well as an online practice test, however the CNS at my hospital hadn't used that book before so I am leery about ordering it in case it isn't any good. I'd rather use something someone else has recommended.....
