what are you using for peripheral iv flushes? NSS or heparin?
and how frequently are you flushing them. Assuming there are no IV meds ordered.

Depends on the type of line. For normal peripheral IVs we use NS and flush them every 3-4 hours depending on the schedule the baby is on.

For PICCs and central lines of any kind we generally use a heparin solution running at 1cc an hour, but there has to be an order for it.
