My periods are starting to get wacky- help!

I am on day 36 (last period 7/29) and NO period in site! I can't be pregnant because I have no fallopian tubes ( multiple ectopic pregnancys). I have given birth to my son via IVF (my eggs are normal). So what is going on here??

I will be 37 in October. My periods have always been regular (28-31 days). I don't use any birth control since I am rendered infertile. Could this indicate that I may be experiencing pre menopause? What could "weird" periods like this possibly mean?

THANKS!

Jules

You'd certainly have to check with your doc - but my periods started doing that several years ago (I'm 36 now) and it turned out to be Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The other symptoms are:
Weight gain
Hair on face (chin for me)
Abdominal pain
Uterine cysts (confirmed by ultrasound)
There are other symptoms but I can't remember them all. The main one, though, was skipping periods.
Good luck!

Please don't ever assume that it is impossible to get pregnant! I have 2 "bad" tubes and 2 healthy girls! There was also a case recently where a mother carried an ectopic pregnancy to term. The embryo implanted on the outside of the womb and developed in the abdominal cavity.

While I agree that pregnancy is unlikely, I'd do a test just to be on the safe side. A call or visit to your doc or midwife is probably in order. It may be a hormone imbalance that can easily be straightened out. You are a little young for menopausal symptoms, although a few simple labs could shed some light on that, too.

It could be allot of things, a medical reason, stress, or yes even a 1 in million pregnancy. You need to see your OB doc to find out. As the poster above said you are a Little young for Peri menopause so it is most likely something else. you NEED to go and see your doc especially with a history of GYN problems and (it sounds like) previous surgery. let us know how it turns out good luck,

Docs and common wisdom will SAY 37 is too young for perimenopause, BUT that is not the case. I started having irregular and really weird periods around that age, screaming mood swings, etc. Started having hot flashes at age 39, missing periods, etc. I am now 43, STILL having hot flashes, etc.
My OB STILL tells me I am too young for perimenopause. I have only had five periods this calendar year. And NOT in a row! My primary care doc gave me Effexor for the flashes (absolutely NOT going to take synthetic hormones) and I started taking phyto-estrogens (over the counter, made from plants, not associated with horrible side effects of Premarin and others) and I feel MUCH better.
Yes, go to your doc, but IF he tells you it is NOT the case, if you don't feel comfortable with what he tells you, do NOT be afraid to go to another doc. Somebody somewhere can tell you what it really is.

My periods were right as rain until I hit 38. They were so regular, I successfully used natural family planning as birth control for years! At 38, my periods would come and go and I would get occasional hot flashes (boy, those are fun). Visit to the doc showed nothing unusual, all blood work okie dokie. I read up on perimenopausal symptoms and found that women can experience those 15 years or so before actual onset of "menopause".

I tink the bottom line is that you need to see your Doc. Let us know how things turn out!
