Question? - Legal & ethical issues

Hi there

I was hoping I could get some assistance for an assignment, as to what topics I could use related to legal and ethical issues in childbearing families?

thanks

Kylie

Domestic violence
Elective primary c/section
Routine (meaning non-urgent) labor induction/augmentation

Those are just a few I can think of. I'm sure other posters will have more.

Surrogate pregnancy and selective reduction of high order multiples are the first two to come to my mind.

Re: Legal & ethical issues

who has custody? What if the Mom is unmarried and underage and the child is ill? What if the parents are unmarried and not living together but there is no official court paper declaring custody? What situations could arise? Believe me, the ED nurses have run into this lots of times.

Routine infant circumcision, male or female, though I think the current preferred term for women is 'female genital cutting,' as it is broader and includes more procedures than just 'circumcision' which would be removal of the clitoral hood.
