So, anyone out there work in Portland, Oregon? I would like to scope out the job possibilities for the L&D or Maternity floors there. Is there a need for nurses, or are all the nurses upping their hours as their spouses are getting layed off?

I just moved to Portland, OR, I lived near Salem, before the move. I work in a great LTC here and love it! Oregon Health Science Hospital is hiring they have many openings in all areas, including L&D, Maternity, etc. You can reach their web site at:

I live in the Portland Metro area and am currently working on prospective jobs. I also would like to work L&D. I graduate in March and was told by a recruiter for Legacy that they start accepting applications for internships in the fall and to look for postings on their website. To my knowledge, there is no problem for nurses in any specialty (even new grads) getting jobs in this area. Good luck to you :0)

Thanks for the posts! I do have 6 years experience in L&D, so hopefully I can patch together full-time work. Does anyone have a pulse on the moral of the nurses in the different hospitals, ie. Providence St. Vincent, Providence Portland, Legacy Good Sam, Legacy Emanuel, and OHSU?
