Well, I just woke up from a nap which I needed because of a sleepless night due to interview anxiety . My interview was this morning and I feel that it went very well. I followed the wonderful suggestions that I received on this board and wore a very nice suit instead of just slacks and a shirt. I carried my resume and recommendations in a leather portfolio and wore very natural looking makeup.
There was a panel of 5 people that asked me various behavorial type questions. I was told to expect to hear something by the 2nd week of May, but I'm hoping to hear sooner. To land a position in this LnD unit would be a dream come true for me. I guess I have a few weeks of nail-biting and phone watching ahead of me. Thanks again for your help and support!

So exciting to hear of a good interview...good for you. I have a piece of advice to offer on Monday i would send a very nice hand written thank you note to the mgr and include something specific out of the interview. EX: I was very impressed by your high number of breast feeding to bottle feeding ratios.
Something along those lines, of course have it be sincere of something that really did impress you.
Then include your cell phone number as well as your home number. And if you have a silly/or hip hop ring back tone or a laid back type of voice mail on your cell phone, change it to something very professional.
Best of luck!!!

Well,I sent out the thank you card. I had bought some a few days before to send to the interviewer and my instructors that wrote recommendations. I'm trying not to think about it and focus on my last 3 weeks of school, but its hard! Thank you racing-mom4 and santhony44, I'll let you know how it goes

OK, just got a call to come in and shadow. Is this a good sign? Do you think they're still "making up their mind"?
Also, how should I approach my shadow day? I already am externing on a different L/D unit, so should I go in and do tasks or step back and observe? I don't want to be overbearing, but I want them to know that I'm a team player. ANY and ALL suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I definately think being called back to shadow is a great sign! When I shadowed, I tried to help a little, nurses there were asking me lots of questions: my experiences, schooling, why I chose to go into OB etc. Congratulations! When will you be shadowing? Let us know how it goes! :O)

Jenrninmi, thanks for asking. I shadowed yesterday and it really went well! I Did some fundal checks, drew some blood, and assisted with a vaginal delivery. The staff was really nice and I enjoyed it. I think I should hear back by next week, so I'll keep everyone updated.

Wow! That's a REAL shadow experience. Sounds like you did well. I think you will get it.
Please concentrate on your studies, though. I made the mistake of being overanxious over a potential position. Got the position, didn't do well on my exam. Thank God, I passed my last exam, or it would've been a wrap for me.

Thanks Zahryia. I am heeding that advice, I wouldn't want to jeopardize this opportunity.
