How long & How soon (schooling)

How long are schooling programs? For instance, my LPN program takes 18mos. Then, how long is the Excelsior LPN->RN program ? Then, how long does it take to go RN.>>BSN (I could do it at Excelsior, but I might go back to FSU for it...but anyway), then how long to do BSN>>MSN (from my research, seems 2-3yrs).

Also how FAR in ADVANCE should one begin looking into the "next step" programs. Like, while your still in your LPN program, how far ahead should you apply to the RN program (and so on--like is there a general rule of thumb)?

If you are doing a bridge program after the LPN, then you need to figure about 18 months, it is going to depend on the program. They you need two years of physical work experience as an RN in an a Labor and Delivery unit before beginning the CNM program.................

No general rule of thumb, a program will normally not accept you for admission until you have the completed the program before it.

thanks, suzanne I would assume that I'd be working on my BSN during that time anyway, so...that'd take a couple yrs, too .

Be sure to search around this site and also inquire with your state board of nursing about Excelsior too, I don't know the scoop but I have seen a bunch of debate abotu Excelsior and whether their degree is acceptable depending on where you live, etc.
