I'm being interviewed for an extern position in OB on Thursday. I REALLY want this job and I want to impress the person interviewing me. I know they always ask "Why did you become a nurse" and also, "why do you want to work in OB". It's always really hard for me to answer them because there are so many variables when it comes to why I went into nursing and why I want to go to OB. I never really had a 'calling' for nursing, I went into it for one reason and then I've really enjoyed learning and working during clinicals. I was always fascinated with science and learned everything I could during all of my pregnancies (5). Also, what would be some good questions to ask? It's been about 10 years since I've interviewed for a job and I'm really out of practice!! Thanks for any tips/help...:Reindeer:

Be Prepared to know your strengths and weaknesses, You need to hit that why you want to work ob Question right on the head!!!!! Shake Everyones hand, and take resumes on RESUME PAPER!

I've never been asked why I wanted to become a nurse.

One question I was asked was, "tell me about a time when your integrity was challenged and how you responded to it. Give us specific examples." Sheesh!

Just be confident, and well spoken.

By now I'm sure you've already had the interview, and I really hope you did well. I hate interviews even if I'm well prepared. Well my interview went pretty well. It wasn't really an interview, more of a let's get acquainted type of thing. Part of the application process involved 8 questions that we had to answer, which were typical interview questions. The managers used those to screen who they wanted to interview, and then interviewed 7 of us for 4 positions. I'm pretty confident that I got one of the positions, the managers were even talking about who would be my preceptor. I find out next week. After interviewing I'm even more excited about this extern position. I loved the hospital and the directors were really great!! They had a really friendly atmosphere, and I felt like I fit in. I'll let you know when I find out for sure, but thanks for the tips!!
