HELP!! Interview with peers for L&D

Hello

I am going to have a second interview with peers on L&D unit to see if i fit in with the staff working there.
I don't know what to expect? what questions might they ask me? should I have questions for them? I pretty much asked all the questions during my first interview with the manager.
I know that there are 3 of us going after 1 position and I really want to get it.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I'm a new grad but a mature one with own children, no experiance in L&D except nursing school, and I really want this position, but I tend to be shy and quiet, and for sure will be intimidated by more then one person interviewing me.

Mention that though you expect to function fully independently, you look forward to working as a team.

I think you should tell them that. Honesty is so refreshing and disarming.

They know you are inexperienced as a new grad, made sure you let them know how much you enjoy learning and if working in labor and delivery is your dream job make sure they know that too. Good luck!

Re: HELP!! Interview with peers for L&D

I just went on a peer interview the other day. Suprisingly all they wanted to know was personal questions. Very few work related questions. Alot of the question were like:

What are 5 personal goals in the next 5 years?
Who do you trust the most?
How does your family handle stress?
How will this job affect your life at home?
How long have you known your best friend, also #1 Personal reference?

Some work related questions like:

What do you plan to accomplish in this position?
How do your personal goals affect your job performance?

Good Luck~ Stay confident and know you are a nurse for a good reason!

i JUST talked to two of the pharmacists at my work (i'm a student working at an HMO over summer) & they were talking about peer interviews being more about finding out how well you mesh with the people that work there. just be friendly & make it clear that you really want the job. good luck!!

Re: HELP!! Interview with peers for L&D

Thanks for all the responses!!!

I decided to just be myself and do not overanalyze it. I'll tell them why I want to work there, about myself and about my past work experiences. I dealt with a lot of people (nice and angry) and stressful situations, so that should be helpful.

If they like me they like me if not maybe it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks again for all your help!!!! I posted the same question on the NY site and did not get any answers, I'm happy I found this site.

There you go!

At the end of the day, people want to work with nice people who are willing to learn and help out.
