Help with goal/outcome

Fluid volume excess r/t generalized edema AEB +1 bilateral tibia pitting edema.
Goal?

Patient is 24 yr old female post c-sec.

Okay...Just started grad school but if memory serves me you can't have fluid volume excess r/t generalized edema. The r/t has to be caused by the problem. (ex: fluid volume excess, r/t 4000 cc fluid given over 12 hours in labor AEB....edema.

Anyone...correct me if I'm wrong!

Hmm. Well, generalized edema is not the actual problem. Does the patient have a sodium imbalance? CHF? Renal disease? The pitting edema is being caused by something else. I believe this is called dependant edema, so it comes from something else. She's a post-op c/s but does she have any other problems that may be adding to this? I'm not sure there's enough information there to do a good enough goal. *shrug*
