HELLP Sybdrome

We just our 6th (I think) admission so far this month with HELLP/HUS/AFL spectrum illness. That for us is near a record. Is anyone else experiencing a "run" of these syndromes.

We always have lots, so I'm not qualified to answer! That's the NICU for ya. I do happen to think the IUGR babies that result from PIH/HELLP are extremely cute though...

Isn't it sad how we think these are the cutest babies? We recently had a 35 weeker who was maybe 1200 grams. Room air, doing great - just a tiny little thing. Gorgeous, perfect, miniature baby. I can't help but feel guilty for loving those little IUGR's so much!

No run here. We are a fairly busy unit, averaging 100 deliveries/month. But, we still only see HELLP occasionally.

Re: HELLP Sybdrome

We are very busy also we average about 700 deliveries per month and approx.. 7,000 per year. I have seen alot of r/o Pre E & PIH but no one that is diagnosed with HELLP yet.

Hmmm July would be your hottest month? This last December was stinking hot for us! Wonder if there is a connection?
