I am a new grad nurse and seriously thinking about L & D. But I am also thinking that maybe I should get some experience in Med-surge, tele or trauma before I dip into OB. I guess my question is what can one do apart from being a midwife (CNM) with L&D experinece as opposed to med-surge where you can basically go into alot of different areas of nursing such ICU, ED ect afterwards?

With the job market what it is, you can go anywhere from L&D. I went from their to the NICU and have received job offers for adult ICU and OR without wanting to work in either.
