The reason I ask is that I don't own any scrubs (other than my school uniforms which I guess I could use if I took the patches off). I have 4 days of orientation (with all the other students who are all working on different floors) for my first week. Will I need to buy scrubs to wear for this? And would I need to come into the hospital wearing scrubs when I'm working? I know, very silly questions but I need to know! And lastly, why do birth centers provide scrubs? Is it for the possible mess factor, or for cleanliness? Thanks!

no not silly questions. IF they provide them on the floor which must OB units do. Then you will wear street clothes in to work and change in a locker room. No you won't be able to take them home (you probably wont want to either). If going in for classes etc, you should be able to wear street clothes. They provide scrubs because they want to make sure you are clean and easily identifiable. Good Luck Have fun.
