I BET he did not know. She may have experienced a precipitous transition and delivery in which no one can do much except deliver the baby. Glad the nurse was there to do it at least, and the doctor that delivered you was able to go in and check on her and her condition after you were delivered. It does happen on occasion. I hope you both had healthy babies.
