Anyone left L & D for another area due to stress?

Anyone started in L&D and left for Maternity, or Nursery due to the stress level? Just curious.

Nope. I know nursing is really stressful all over. I can't think of an area, at least in the hospital, that would be less stressful. Maybe you can look into clinic/doctor office nursing? I am not saying they are less stressful period-----but less acuity may mean less stress for YOU.

I know several nurses who prefer PP or nursery to L&D because of stress levels. I think it's all individual though. I prefer L&D to 4 screaming babies in a healthy newborn nursery!

I'll take L&D any day. Although we do LDRP (means we do it all) nursery is my least favorite area and Post Partum is a bore (on a daily basis). I'll take a good case of fetal distress anytime over a bunch of screaming babies.I love being able to float around our whole unit. Nursingt is stressful no matter what type of area you work in (unless maybe it is a doc's office).
