I had a nurse tech job in L&D my senior year of nursing school and I absolutely loved it. I actually ended up working in L&D which I totally love. My advice would be to do your work and then try to get with a nurse and learn as much as you can. All of the nurses were always showing me different fetal monitor strips, or things to looks for in an assessment, I just jumped in as much as they would let me. It helped me out so much once I started working as a RN to already have a grasp of how the unit worked, etc.
I don' have any advice but want to say congratulations on getting the job. That is literally my dream job to do while in nursing school. I want to work in L&D when I graduate.
I worked as a Nurse Tech on Med/Surg, which is where I am now as an RN. It was very helpful to know what the nurses responsibilities were before I HAD those responsibilities.
Bit of advice: ASK QUESTIONS! If you don't know something-don't guess! Great opportunity for you to absorb as much as you can.
