Time before going back for Masters

I just graduated from a BSN program and started working in a pediatric ER. I know 100% sure I want to go back for my master's an an NP and I am like 90% sure I want to be a FNP. I am looking to go to UPenn or Drexel and I know it's going to take me several yesrs to get through the program b/c I plan to continue working full time as long as I can. Being that I am focusing on peds now, I am also thinking that I want to go back to school ASAP (like next fall). I will have 1 year of experience but I wont be so far removed from adult diseases that it will be too difficult. Any thoughts on this? Obviously experience is great, but I'm worried that if I do the FNP program and wait too long It'll be more difficult. Thanks for the suggestions.....

It is totally up to you regarding how comfortable you feel and when you feel ready to start grad school. I just started NP school last month and have been a nurse for 1 year and 2 months now. I feel totally 100 % ready to be in NP school. I don't have trouble understanding the material, but my only issue is that it is very tiring to work many hours a week and to be a full time NP student on top of that. I wish there were more hours in the day. Anyhow, good luck to you in whatever you decide, and no matter what anyone else tells you, you are the best judge of yourself and when you feel ready to start grad school.
