I'm in the same boat you are. One year left of school. I am in FL. We can't rx controlled meds and have to have a collaborative agreement with doc just like most other states. From looking at the job market here it seems pay in FL is not as much as in the northern states and CA. It is very expensive to live here with huge property taxes, hurricane insurance is outrageous, cost of gas, food, etc. It's cheaper to rent than own a home.
I'm actually thinking of moving out when I graduate. I feel I can have a much better quality of life (nicer house cheaper, nicer people, cheaper goods) elsewhere. Road rage is horrible here, crime is crazy several people a day are killed on the news reports (and that's just what's reported!), areas once thought to be safe are now increasing in crime, traffic terrible, and most jobs require you to speak spanish if your in south florida.
The Tampa/Orlando area is a bit better. I've lived here for 20 years. Sorry to paint a bad picture but this is what you get in any large city. There are advantages, no snow, lots of things to do, beaches. There's a good social scene, lots of clubs and nightlife.
