Re: Need Help Please!!!

1. Be honest.

2. Base your presentation on your nursing experience. As in: I like cardiology because of the invasive procedures often necessary to treat an acute MI, so I would like to be a cardiology NP to further cardiology advanced practice opportunities.

3. Have some idea of what your local job market is. Don't say that you want to be an ER NP if you (and probably them) know that there are no mid-level practitioners in your local ERs.

4. Ask current students for their suggestions.

good luck.

Re: Need Help Please!!!

I would say that you need to not stress over this. It's important... don't get me wrong, but if you let your stress overwhelm you, you will make it more difficult that its meant to be.

The way I would approach this, is to get out a piece of paper and pen... (they do still exist... ) and make a list of what you forsee yourself doing in the next 6 months, 1 year, and even as far as 10 years. What do you want out of the education? What do you hope to get out of it? Keep your list very informal while you're brainstorming. Don't think about it as a paper, yet. Think of it more as... why do you even want to be an NP? As if its a list for yourself... I think that once the ideas start flowing, you'll have your statement of goals in no time.

This is pretty much what I did and got accepted last year.

GOOD LUCK!!
