hi guys!

is anyone here a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner?

i am a Psychiatric/Mental Health RN and i am interested in applying to a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program.

i was hoping i could talk to someone here about it.

how do you specialize in psych as a np?
did you get a special certificate or something ?

Psych NPs must complete an MSN degree with a concentration in psych NP practice and pass the national certification exam.

There is a lot of "discussion" on the national level these days about requiring doctoral-level preparation for nurse practitioners and other advanced practice roles, but that is still just a proposal at this point.
