I graduate from my ACNP program in 2 weeks, and yesterday I was offered a position in Hospital Medicine-which I interviewed for last month. I am sooooooooo excited because I have been in love with Hospital Medicine ever since I became an RN and so this is my dream job!!!!! I love the hospital (since I have been already working there for 6 years) and am so happy with the salary and benefits package, etc and all the MDs and NPs in the service are so nice too!!! Now I can't wait to take my exam already so I can get going!!!! Yippee!!!!!

May I ask what Hospital Medicine is? Sounds rather generic, but I'm guessing it is a specific field?

The hospitalist role was my first interest... but then I found cardiology and feel like it was a better fit, at least now.

I definitely will post once I start (August 25 is my starting date!!!). I can't wait! I just came back from a 2 day ACNP review course-still hard to believe I'll be an NP soon.

Working in Hospital Medicine just means that you specialize in taking care of hospitalized patients-& I won't be working outside of the hospital, like in a clinic or elsewhere. So in other words, I will be managing the medical care of hospitalized adult patients (excluding pregnant women though, since this is a specialty in itself).
