Question? - job offers

i have 2 job offers 1 in a primary care office mon-fri 9-5 visits to n.h. one time a month , does laser, botox etc in office (which they will send me to a class on) great learning opportunity being a new grad. and another w/ hospital contract at a local n.h.( my background is in the n.h. and very familiar w/ this area) I am more comfortable w/ the n.h. job and i eventually want to only work w/ geriatrics but feel like i should step out and get my feet wet in primary care 1st. I feel like this is the old med surg and another unit decision i made when i first got out of rn shool. Most of my experience as a nurse is geriatrics(mainly mgmt) and i love the geriatrics but feel as a new grad i need the primary care experience- both are comparable w/ pay and benefits, and locality and hours. The only thing i am nervous about w/ the n.h. is that i am the only np at the n.h and the md is required to be there 8 hours a week. as a new np this makes me nervous but feel i could handle it. any thoughts???

Re: job offers

Why not take the NH job since you love geriatrics anyways and want to work in it eventually? I agree that it is kind of scary to know that you'll be the only provider there when the MD is not there-I am a new NP grad too and just accepted my first NP position in Hospital Medicine and I will be the one getting the calls from nurses-which makes me nervous, but think about how great you'll be once you get the experience under your belt! Good luck with your decision.
