Update - job offer

Here are the details of my new job offer. I am a new NP grad with 7 years of experience in Geriatrics(mainly long term care) this job would be in a Nursing home but i would answer to the local hospital that contracts this service to the n.h. they would provide all the benefits, salary is 80,000-Mon-Fri 8 hour days - occasional call 1 weekend every month but just for advisement over the phone. The only hitch is that I would be there by myself. The physician that is collaborating w/ me would be required to be there 8 hours a week. I am a little nervous about being a new grad and being by myself but since this is the area i am most comfortable with I feel ok w/it. I know the regulations etc. Any questions I need to ask about the job? Anything that you forsee would be a problem? Thanks,

Re: job offer

I think this is probably the norm for this type of job. I did some clinical time with an NP at a 300 bed NH where the MD was only there 8 hours a day. Sounds awful but there are few true life and death emergencies that require a physician at a NH. You can always call 911 and do CPR, start IVF.

I think the liability is much higher in the hospital. I work in nephrology and rarely see an MD in a month's time unless I happen to have a meeting with one. Any info I need to pass on, I call or text or email.

I think you will do fine.
