Introductions

I'm currently only a freshman in a BSN program..but I came across a question..

How do NP's introduce themselves to patients? For example, a nurse introduces themselves as Nurse Blah Blah and MD's introduce themselves as Dr. Blah Bah.

How do NP's do it?

Re: Introductions

HI there,
You can review the thread posted by Siri for more input... but the way I address myself is this:

"Hi Mr. Jones, I'm DaisyRN (first name)... the nurse practitioner for the group." I expect them to call me by my first name as I am still quite young, but one of the MD partners introduces me as "Ms. DaisyRN (first name)"... that's fine too, I suppose.

Re: Introductions

I'm guessing there is probably a thread on this as well, but while I'm here I'll throw it out there...

How about addressing a nurse with a DNP? Dr, or just prefix (Ms, Mr, Mrs)?
