Really, the nursing profession is doing itself a disservice. The direct customers--us--are worried and irritated, the indirect customers (patients, the folks who want to have us up and working) think it shows tremendous disorganization.

In the meantime, I am repainting my house, one room at a time. Plus I got a load of topsoil delivered, so I can work on moving dirt when I get tired of studying...
Took several months when I got out of school to get everything setup..
Wait #1 School had to finalize transcripts,
Wait # 2 Application process,
Wait #3 Ok to take test,
Wait #4 Testing center to OK a date.

I was the first to test from my class and everyone in my class knew it.
The test gave me a preliminary pass / fail response but it took a few weeks to get my real response.

The waiting time frame did not mean I did not pester everyone I could call or email about the process....

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

jd i totally agree! they are disorganized i have a friend where they said they lost her transcript and the lady on the phone wasn't even talking about my friend they were talking about another person that had come from NY and she is from AL. Very frustrating. Fortunately i did not have that problem it was about a month after i graduated that i got my test date but then again i sent everything in except my transcript in the middle of march so all they had to do was get my transcript...good luck

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

I am going crazy here, I have been waiting for 5 weeks to hear back from ANCC and still nothing. I'm so frustrated. I called them 3 times now and it didn't help of course. I keep checking my ID # online, but it's still not recognized. I even had a dream last night that I couldn't take the exam until Sept 3rd. I'm soooooo sick of going over all the review material over and over and over too. Help!

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

Christine,
I wish I could help but all I can offer is that I am in the same boat and it is making me nuts, depressed, also hitting the ranitidine and omeprazole on a regular basis. I am thinking that September for a start date will be optimistic for me--in Michigan the lag time between passing the boards and getting the license (necessary for practice) can be MONTHS.
I will be the first to admit that in school the instructors did say that "the ANCC says to expect 2 weeks for a reply, then another 6-8 weeks or so to test." However, they followed this right up with "but most of our grads say that they get the okay to test within a few weeks of sending in their applications." In retrospect it would have been nice to actually get the words from the grads to see how long it took. I suspect the program instructors may have been remembering through rose-colored glasses!
FWIW one of my classmates went through the AANP, thinking it would be faster (since she did not have to wait to get the page from the school that the ANCC requires). She got her application in to them about 10 days before I got mine in to ANCC. She STILL does not have a date.
So, sorry to not be able to help--and truly, if I knew of any way to speed up the process I'd broadcast it to everyone--but you're not alone!
Joan

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

What is the testing like now?
Is it all questions still??? I/we heard rumors two years ago they were going to revamp the test and have color pictures, EKG strips, etc....

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

Well I took it today and passed! I feel so good right now. I took the ANCC FNP exam. It was not bad at all. I listened to the Fitzgerald Review CD's and bought her review book. It's all you need to pass. I studied way more than I needed.

I think I'll just sit here for awhile.

Woo Hoo!

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

i passed today as well and i thought some of the questions were stupid and didn't require NP knowledge but that is just me. All that matters is now I am FNP!!! Now to job hunting. Thanks for all the support.
