Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

Ok, my friend at work has been trying to get me to stay calm and think positively about my upcoming NP exam, so I am taking her advice. I keep telling myself that I will pass this exam because not only did I do well in NP school, but I also took a review course, and have been studying very diligently for several weeks now and understand what I am reading. I say this because we are all going to hear stories of how someone failed the NP exam and how hard it is, etc, etc...and we can't freak out. We have to realize that everyone is different and we can only focus on ourselves and feel confident in our abilites and think positively. I am saying this to try to convince myself too of course! So good luck to everyone about to take the NP exams, and I hope I find out my test date soon....

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

I just finished a week in my car and so got a couple of run-throughs on the Fitzgerald CDs--I have never taken the cert exam but I have done many in nursing schools and I could have given myself a bruise kicking myself over mis-reading wording on questions, which sounds like it is something to watch for. I just wish I could get it scheduled and DONE with. I have called the ANCC twice now, they did get my application and my check went through on 6/4 but still no written notification. Still, the woman I talked to said I will get my authorization in the next 6 weeks (6-8 weeks from the check clearing date). So I am hopeful to get it done this summer. I am anticipating some initial brain freeze but as you point out, I did well in school and have been studying regularly.

I STILL can't figure out why it takes so long to get an authorization to test though...

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

I feel that I will do well on the exam because I have been studying a lot like 5 days a week now. I think after 2 or 3 more days I will be totally ready to take it, but of course I can't yet!!! ANCC received my application on June 6th and now I have called them twice. I just called today and they said yes, we have your application and if there are any problems, we will contact you...otherwise it's back to the waiting game. I just want to know my test date already. I'm tired of studying so much and plus, if I don't end up taking it until who knows when, I may have to keep reviewing the stuff 50 million times. Ugh. I just get so disappointed when the mailman comes by and there's nothing.

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

I feel the same way. The ANCC received my app on May 15 and said it will take 6 weeks to process! They gave me an ID number to use when I call and ask about it. I followed the link on their site to the prometric "schedule an exam" link. It asks for an ID number and I thought, I bet it's the same. I checked every day and it kept saying ID number invalid. Well, yesterday it logged me in and let me schedule the exam.

This might be a little quicker for you guys. The lady at the ANCC said I could use the number they give me over the phone to schedule the exam. She didn't tell me it's the same number to check on it.

I'm taking it July 8th. Stressed about it. I bought the Fitzgerald CDs, review book and a second review book and am studing each night. I've listened so much I can talk along with her in some parts! I feel like the woman with the cough and dragging herself around is an old friend.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to ask for the ID the next time I call them. I bet the people at the ANCC love me by now, since I call them like every week. I think you will do well on the exam since you are obviously studying very hard. Good luck. I envy you taking it so soon!

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

I am so excited! After sending in my application 26 days ago, I received a letter in the mail from the ANCC today saying they received my application for the ACNP exam and gave me my ID #. How sad is that, that I am so excited just to get any piece of correspondence from the ANCC? It's not like I got my eligibilty letter or anything, but I am so happy to have something to hold onto for now. I feel like this process is taking forever.

Re: I made my appt for the FNP exam

Hey, if you guys come across something you didn't know want to post it? Maybe it'll be something one of us has on the exam. I did a practice test today and answered 100 of the 150 correct. Could have been worse!
One of the questions was if you have a 3 week old female baby with serosangouns (spelled wrong) vaginal dischage what do you tell the mom? The correct answer was that it was normal. Didn't know that. Would have worried me in real life.

Another was what do you give to a 17 year old with positive mono and positive strep who is allergic to pcn. It was erythromycin. Should have known that one. Guess you'd have to give this anyway since the pcn would cause a rash with the mono.

These were just practice questions though.
