FNP questions and waitlists

Hi!
I am currently in school to get my ADN and have decided that after getting my bachelor's, I want to become a NP. I really want to work in women's health but as I understand, it is better to become a FNP so that you aren't so limited. Correct?
I have just been exploring different programs across the country. I am currently in Wisconsin and will probably get my bach here too but I'm willing to travel out of state for the Master's.
Does anyone know if there are ridiculous wait lists like there are for RN programs or are you pretty much in with a good GPA and GRE scores?
Also, does anyone know any specifics on schools in San Diego?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm excited about this and I am the type of person who likes to have goals. So, in about 6 years I'll be a NP. Never too early to look ahead

Hello, dlaura22,

I have found the NP programs do not have as long a waiting list as the RN programs country-wide.

As for the FNP being a better choice, in my area, yes. I am OB-GYN NP and FNP. I decided for better marketability, I needed to get FNP, too. I am well-rounded in my abilities to deliver patient care now.

I wish you luck with your career choice. You have chosen well.
