It can vary widely, depending on where you work. Some jobs are "office hours" jobs, some involve call, some are in retail or urgent care clinics and involve working off hours, holidays, and weekends.
Sure. There are 9-5 positions out there that don't require odd hours or call schedules. I know in my state and in certain group practices the mid-level providers don't take on as much as the MD/DOs.
I don't know anything about your area, so have a look around and ask current NPs about their requirements and what they have found in their field.
